How oregano oil can be used for therapeutic properties but also for slimming and pressure control.

Nowadays, we are confronted with a plethora of “unusual” diseases that are constantly emerging and that sometimes give scientists a headache. For example, the disease called ‘winter vomiting bug’ (Norovirus) has been observed worldwide.

Why are digestive disorders constantly on the rise? Do bacteria and fungi multiply uncontrollably creating havoc in our bodies? It is very possible, although the exact cause is not yet clear.

We also face the toxic effects of Generically Modified foods, as well as unknown soil and water bacteria, deliberately modified viruses, etc. There is a new name for these vague diseases sometimes referred to as “diseases derived from genetically modified organisms” – no wonder they have appeared in our lives!

The Miraculous Oregano Oil

Can wild oregano oil work therapeutically for diseases from pests or modified foods? Some doctors use the benefits of wild oregano oil to treat any bacterial attacks.

It has been shown to destroy unwanted bacteria, fungi, yeasts, parasites and some viruses [1]. It also relieves the symptoms of winter vomiting bug, a new digestive disorder that afflicts many people.

The wild oregano plant is close to the family to which mint belongs. When the flowers and leaves are harvested, the oil content is at its highest.

Thus, oregano oil is an alternative holistic treatment that many health professionals use to relieve their patients from symptoms.

There are many types of oils, so be sure to find Mediterranean wild oregano oil. True Mediterranean wild oregano has 2 varieties: thymus capitatus and origanum vulgare. These have the most health benefits and are considered among the most potent.

Oregano oil contains Carvacrol (C10H14O) – a powerful antimicrobial substance. Carvacrol has been shown to be effective in treating Candida fungus, aspergillosis, staphylococcus, campylobacter (believed to be responsible for some types of ulcers), klebsiella, coliform, giardia, pseudomonas, salmonella and listeria [2].

Terpenes are another class of phytochemicals found in the oil, as is thymol, a natural fungicide with antiseptic properties.

Thymol has also been shown to boost the immune system when administered appropriately [3].

Oregano oil contains vitamin E, calcium, magnesium, zinc, iron, potassium, copper, boron, manganese, vitamin A, vitamin C and niacin. Research has also shown that carvacrol in the right dosage has potential liver regeneration properties by restoring blood flow to organs and tissues thus protecting the liver [4]. Other potential benefits: adding a few drops of wild oregano oil to a diffuser or inhaling its vapour could relieve congestion. Also, a drop in filtered water helps treat sore throat and more.

Scientific Studies On Oregano Oil

Powerful Antibiotic

Oregano kills germs in the same way as the powerful antibiotics penicillin, streptomycin and vancomycin. This is the conclusion of research from Georgetown University [5]. Oregano essential oil inhibits the growth of a large number of bacteria and fungi, including Candida Albicans for which there is still no effective drug treatment [6].

Against Prostate Cancer

A study from Long Island University showed that oregano’s main component, carvacrol, could be used to treat prostate cancer. The substance leads to apoptosis (i.e. suicide) of cancer cells without affecting healthy cells [7].

Great Antioxidant Benefits

Oregano as mentioned above is one of the richest spices in vitamin C. Its powerful antioxidant properties slow down cell deterioration and thus aging. It also contributes to the formation of collagen and protects red blood cells.

Oregano Oil And Slimming

Do you want to lose weight? New research shows that oregano oil could be a promising solution to reduce your chances of obesity and weight gain. According to Wellness Resources, the study involved feeding mice a high-fat diet to induce obesity. However, mice that also received oregano oil saw less weight gain than those that did not.

The active ingredient in oregano oil, carvacrol, was given to half of the mice. They were fed 0.1% carvacrol as part of their diet, while the other mice received none. The mice that did not receive the carvacrol saw significantly greater weight gain. In addition, those that received the carvacrol had lower levels of triglyceride cholesterol in their blood [8].

According to the researchers, carvacrol reduces inflammation, and because obesity is caused, in part, by inflammation in white adipose tissue, it reduces or eliminates this factor.

In humans, the rate at which carvacrol would be effective is equal to 1.5 calories for every 1,500 calories in the daily diet. For those using supplements, this equates to three to four capsules of oregano oil each day.

Oregano Oil And Pressure Control

Recent research has shown that carvacrol can be used to lower blood pressure – also known as hypertension – which increases the risk of heart disease, stroke and heart attacks [9].

Oregano does not contain sodium – a risk factor for high blood pressure and could well replace the addition of salt to meals according to NHS scientists. The chemical reduced heart rate and arterial pressure. It also helped reduce both systolic and diastolic blood pressure, the scientists said.

How To Make Oregano Oil

Ingredients

  • 1 cup of oregano
  • 3 cups of olive oil

Preparation

  1. Put the oregano and olive oil in a pot
  2. Stir and place over very low heat for about 5-6 hours. *It is important not to exceed 100 degrees because you will destroy all the essential oils of the herb.

  4. Put the oil in a dark bottle and store it in a shady and dark place. *It will keep for up to 12 months.

  • Dilute it with some olive oil and apply a small amount on your head and massage it lightly before going to bed. Put a towel on your pillow to avoid getting dirty. In the morning, take a normal bath.
  • For prevention, you can put a teaspoon of oregano oil in your salads or drink it every morning mixed with a glass of water for 1 month.
  • To treat Candida Albicans or other bacteria you will need larger doses and therefore you need to do it under the supervision of a specialist.
  • For psoriasis or cutaneous fungi, dilute one tablespoon of oregano oil with three tablespoons of olive oil and dab on the desired area.

Oregano Oil and Side Effects

Carvacrol is a natural insect repellent. No wonder it tastes awful. Dilute the oil with a base oil such as olive oil or water in a ratio of one part oil to three parts base oil. Undiluted can cause irritation to the skin, mucous membranes or organs.

Therapeutic use of oregano oil should be short-term and should be avoided by children or pregnant women and people with high blood pressure or cardiovascular disease.

Before using any alternative treatment, it is recommended to talk to your doctor.
